I have used this process, and have had no problems. :)

I tried the default Vista driver that installed when it found my hardware, but all i could get was 2.1 sound... so this fixes that, and gives me true 5.1 surround.

-Put in the CD that came with your sfx card
-Now open the CD so you can view the contents.
-Open the folder called "Drivers"
-Now, right click on the "Xtreme Sound Driver.exe" and goto Properties
-In the "Compatibility" tab,
-check the box for Compatibility Mode and change that to "Windows XP (Service Pack 2)"
-Now Click "Apply" then "OK"
-Run "Xtreme Sound Driver.exe"
-Restart Computer.
Now, some of the functions in the "PCI 3D Audio Config" dialog box do not work.
Most of your changes will need to take place in the default Vista Sound config, in the control Panel.
But, for now. You will have a quick fix for 5.1/7.1 surround, till they release a fully compatible version.

Enjoy!

RE: Bought Diamond Xtreme 7.1 for Vista, does not work

C-Media now has updated versions for Vista they are available through windows Update.
Mine were atleast

RE: Bought Diamond Xtreme 7.1 for Vista, does not work

I just installled the Bluegears b-Enspirer and comes with Vista drivers and software that works what a great card would buy another card in a heartbeat great sound.

RE: Bought Diamond Xtreme 7.1 for Vista, does not work

I believe the chipset is C-Media 8768+...try it and let us know :)

RE: Bought Diamond Xtreme 7.1 for Vista, does not work

There's a c-media driver here Dont know what the chipset is on your card, but you can always try it...

RE: Bought Diamond Xtreme 7.1 for Vista, does not work

Have the same problem.
