This is a simaler problem as someone was having before, where someone's CPU usage shot to 100% while playing music... all I can say is try seeing if the 2 drivers are installed correctly, and try d/l drivers off their websites, and not jsut letting vista auto install them.

RE: Sound lag in RC1

Exact same thing here. My sound card is a SB Live and correct drivers are installed. Thought it might be media player so I tried Winamp and got the same issue. Then I decided to try my on-board sound, disabled my SB Live in device manager, drivers installed correctly for the on-board and I used different speaker and I still get exactly the same thing :w00t: I even tried playing a normal CD... SAME THING... lag and crackle.

I was looking at the CPU utilization and see that the lag / crackle seems to happen when the CPU utilization fluctuates a lot. I also tried playing around with the Vista sound settings but that didn't work..

Any ideas?
