I just reread what he posted and I realized he meant a wireless connection and not adware or spyware.

A firewall on your machine will do NOTHING to keep anyone from using your net connection. They're just accessing the router the same as you are and getting to the net.

Set up WPA on the router--forget WEP. Create a COMPLETELY random string of letters and numbers for your password. You won't need to type it in more than once. And just in case, store it in a secure location on your hard drive. On the odd occasion when you DO need to re-enter the PW, you can copy paste it.

You may want to change you password for a more complicated one, and see if this resolves it.

Yeah, I forgot to say it but as he said I'm on wireless, but I'm protected, included firewall, password and everythin'. I also forgot to ask : is there a way I can prove 100% someone is hgihjacking my connection, don't know a software or something...

Get adaware SE not 2007, Spybot S&D and Avast Anti-virus. All of these can be found easily with a google search.

KingofNexus covered it well, if your on wireless then you could be introuble, otherwise it's probably spyware. Do a scan, not using defender that thing sucks. Get spy bot search and destroy or adaware free edition.

lol. Erm.. are you connecting through a wireless router? If so, you will need to encrypt the router with a WEP or equivelent encryption, so that a password is prompted to use your wireless network. Instructions on how to do this should have come with your router.

If you do not have a wireless router then its virtually impossible for someone to steal your connection. This means something on your PC is connecting to the internet like spyware or something harmless like an update program. I recommend downloading and running [url=http://www.download.com/3000-2144-10122137.html]this[/url] to check for spyware.

Well I'm not sure but I've got signs that may indicate someone s maybe trying to steal my internet connection

these are the signs

- Huge download and loading (website) slowdown (not related to any porn or spywares ^^)

- Sometimes my computer pass trough some sort of ''laggy rush'' and a message appears saying -in french- Windows Live One Care à modifié votre niveau de protection parceque vous êtes connecté à un réseau non sécurisé. -somehow so so englais translation- Windows Live One Care changed your protection level because you are connected to a non protected network.

- I broke my 20 gigz downlaod limit by 2 gigs and I am SURE I didn't break it (recalculated 10 times my downloads)

- I put four lines but there was only 3 reasons so enjoy this extra chatter moment

can anyone help me please
