Look in our General Technical forum for the pinned post on Windows Explorer crashes for tips on some things you can try.

I'll be moving this post to that forum. Look for any responses there.

Cannot close, move or minimize any window

Hi,

After a recent reboot of my system, I cannot move, minimize or close any new window that I open. In fact, the "x" in the upper RH corner of each window (Explorer or any application) is grayed out.

Also, right-clicking on the window in the Task Bar does not bring up the usual context menu that would provide another way to close or minimize the window.

I have conducted a PC-Cillin virus scan to no avail; starting in Safe Mode exhibits the same behavior.

Any clues beyond the Dell suggestion of restoring to factory Windows Ultimate?

-Andy
