Ok I disabled system restore and that gave me alot more space. For now
anyway.Everytime I install or uninstall a program does that create a new
restore point in vista?Maybe thats part of the problem? Thanks RH710

I can't account for some 20 GB on my hard drive.

Surely a near pristine Vista HP install shouldn't consume 50+ GB of my 80 GB
drive?

I'm not alone in this situation.

Sure would like the answer...

TIA.

ok i have had this problem with my vista computer too. my dad kept saying i
downloaded stuff but all i found was like 12 gb worth of stuff. i delete my
restore points. did everything everyone was saying. it always decreased. I
showed all files and folders. went into my c drive. i highlightted everything
and when it was showing my stuff it suddenlu jumped to 112 so i high light
each folder at a time one was like 101 gb big. i went into it. it was
actually my users file. i went to my name. then app data then roaming.
apparantly there was this .dat file going bad. it was in my real player
folder. it was 96.1 gb big. i delete it and real player and everything works
fine. i now have 114 gb. of free space. i had to do this by mytself and it
took forever. there was no right answer. so post it everywhere it should
help. system restore doesnt do that bad of space.
