I have Vista Ultimate did a fresh install on a brand new hard drive and WMP worked for awhile and then suddenly stopped working and started giving my the message --- "COMPONENT REGISTRATION FAILURE" I have tried to repair media player and could not. I tried to uninstall media player and could not I tried to go in and delete media player and was told by my computer that I was not authorized to do that What the HELL! I tried to do a reinstall with a download of WMP 11 and it would not proceed because the one on my system is newer than the download Short of doing a complete reinstall is there any hope? and why am I not allowed to delete WMP if I want? I have it set up with only 1 user and that is me and I have full admin priv |

| You can't delete WMP for much the same reason that you can't delete windows explorer - -they're considered core components of the OS and are not removable or installable. You can't download and install WMP because the latest version is integrated into Vista and is not available separately for download.
