| Hi,
I'm running Vista Business and am trying to use a basic USB Generic Gamepad via USB and Windows behaves very strangely when I plug it in. Sometimes, it doesn't recognize it at all (no notification windows), sometimes it says "unknown device found" and tells me it couldn't find any appropriate drivers for the hardware I've installed, and still other times it detects it correctly as a "Human Interface Device" and it appears in the Game Controllers section of the Control Panel for a short time before disappearing after about 3 minutes... ...any ideas? |

| OK, it's a long shot ... but do you have a game port enabled in your BIOS? If so, since Vista doesn't really support game ports anymore, perhaps it's getting confused and scanning the game port for a device when you plug in the USB device.
