| | I'm playing around with Vista Firewall with Advanced Security. I am blocking outgoing traffic, but i am having trouble getting Vista to notify me of a new program attempting to connect out. I'm looking for a feature like Zone Alarm where it asks me when a program tries to connect out, but i can choose to allow it or not, and to save that setting. Can Vista firewall do this? |

| Simple answer, no it can't basically because it's not a required feature. Zone alarm and other proprietry firewalls do more to upset an average user by sending spurious messages to the desktop, better managed firewalls just do the job, if you want a program denied access to an outgoing port you just either don't add it to the exclusions list or don't assign a port to it, or list it in the 'hosts' file.
