It's an update. Not a lot of visual changes, but it works. I do notice that some websites crash the browser or render it differently than Firefox or IE7. But, overall, a nice update.

PC509:

I've read that IE 8 has to run in IE 7 compatibility mode for LOTS of things to work, especially MS products. But then, that kind of stuff is what you expect with a Beta.

Are you able to have both IE 7 and IE 8 beta on your machine at the same time? I'd like to try the IE 8 Beta, but I need IE 7 on a daily basis and don't want to risk trashing it.

I just installed it and as far as I can tell it replaces IE7.

UPDATE: I highly suggest not installing this if you rely on IE for a lot of things. Many pages are messed up and do not submit forms correctly even in IE7 Emulate mode. I suppose you could always install it and then uninstall if you want to just check it out. If you have firefox then you should be allright.

Yea, it replaced IE7 for me, too. And I have some issues with it rendering pages. The crashes don't happen as often now. But, I am forced to use Firefox on a few sites. Oh well. It's beta!

The IE7 Emulation works, but still not 100% good yet. This version is aimed at developers, and another update is coming that is aimed at the general public. That one should be a bit better.

Oh well, I guess thats the price to pay to be on the bleeding edge!

I've downloaded IE8 Beta, and having issues with websites.. It don't display websites correctly.. frames and links all are out of positions. I know its Beta, but shouldn't it at least display it correctly?

Thats why its called Beta 1. You can't expect stuff to work correctly just yet.
