I have a Dell Inspiron 1501 laptop that runs Vista. Can you recommend Norton Security or McAfee? Another one? Thank you.

I use AVG free version, works great i even use the free spyware scanner they have too. I never really liked McAfee or nortons very much.

AMD Athlon 64 X2 6400+ @ 3.2ghz
Asus M2N32 SLI Deluxe motherboard

Yeah free AVG is what i would recommend. If you really want the security of paying for one then Norton is good if you intend to renew your update licence in the future. McAfee is very good at irritating you as its a bit trigger happy at blocking things, however it wont bug you and mess up your computer as much when the update license expires.

On a side note I dont use any anti virus or software firewall on my computer and havent had a virus in years. (I scan my computer yearly).

Asus-SLI Deluxe, AMD x2 4400 (oc'd to 5000), x1900xtx (oc'd), 2GB Corsair XMS RAM 2-3-3-6 (4x512), 500GB Maxtor HDD w/ 32mb cache, 300GB Maxtor HDD w/ 16mb cache, Creative Audigy 4 (Daniel Driver Set), HVR-1100 Dvb-t hybrid TV card, 580W Hiper Type M PSU.

5.0 score on Vista Ultimate x64, 6040 3DMark 06' score on XP

I like AVAST. It also features a nice vista skin you can download from the download section of this site. Anyhow i don't use a firewall because my router features one already. and then the extra one that vista has and then the resident scanner for avast so i don't need much more....

I'm with

Can't beat it, I must have installed it hundreds of times and have many happy virus free 'puters in the community with contented users and that's gotta be good.

Just whilst on the subject some kind person has made a program that uninstalls ALL, yes ALL neferious works of those Symantec\Norton software hooligans

I use bitdefender antivirus plus v10 and i haven't had any viruses or anything since I started using it a year ago. It came with 2 year free updates and was licenced for 2 PCs. Does't cost much either.

All Norton 2007 did for me was slow down my PC.
