I recently bought a new HP Desktop that has Vista Home Premium installed on
it. Works well, I must say.

I also happen to have a shop bought Vista Ultimate. Can I upgrade my Home
Premium to Ultimate and still not lose any of my settings and programs, or
will I have to do a clean install of the Ultimate in order to be able to use
it.

In other words, can I upgrade the Home Version by using the Vista Ultimate
DVD as if I were purchasing the Ultimate upgrade from Microsoft?

Any help is gratefully received and appreciated.

You should be able to do the upgrade without losing anything but it
would be extremely foolish not to take precautions and back up your data
first.
