| When the new OS is released to customers the firewall in Windows Vista will, by default, only block incoming traffic. Offcourse it will also be capable of blocking outgoing traffic but users will have to do that themselves (it’s not that hard). Because the nature of an outbound firewall is to restrict the traffic sent to specific ports, the outgoing access in the Windows Vista firewall is open by default, a Microsoft spokesperson told ZDNet Australia.
Microsoft claims that configuring the Vista firewall to block outgoing connections from rogue applications and malware will require a varying degree of technical knowledge, depending on each user’s security requirements.
Security specialist Michael Warrilow said “The firewall is to protect against inbound attacks — instead of protecting the rest of the world from you.”

| vista don't have to protect from outgoing traffic. outgoing spyware can't going in anothother computer because that computer is protected for incoming traffic
