I've noticed some other lists but they leave a little something to be obtained, so i figure we can write our own and try to make a more detailed list. When adding something to the list please include the name of the program and the file name, how you got it to work and the build you are using. If you find an updated file for vista leave a note.

Thanks Jason, i'm trying to keep the list alphabetized and just to help i am trying to add the name of the file as well since some people have different names for the program, but the same program name. I have added your files to the list so i can keep it up to date on the first page.

I would expect that with build 5472 most of the peices of soaftware that are mentioned as not working will not work.
This latest version of Vista has much better compatibility support.
If you use the compatibility tab and turn on windows xp and run as administrator you will probably find a lot of things work.

Some do work, and some do not. I've played with settings on a few, such as winrar can't extract its .exe files because it does not have permission, you can set the winrar.exe to run as administrator but then the right-click does not work. But it seems to work when you right-click and manually select run as administrator on the winrar.exe itself. I'm still playing with it.
