| By default, Windows Vista uses write-behind caching for internal hard disks. However, if you use a notebook computer or a desktop system connected to a battery backup, consider "kicking it up a notch" by enabling Advanced Performance:- Open Device Manager.
- Expand the Disk Drives category.
- Select your internal disk drive.
- Click the Policies tab (Figure 7).
- Click the Enable Advanced Performance checkbox.
- Click OK.
- Repeat Steps 3-6 for additional internal hard disk drives.

| I have a question: Is it safe to do for hard disk? would it burn out or something?

| If your hard disk doesn't support the feature, the check box will be greyed out and you won't be able to select it. It will not damage your drive in any way.

| | These changes don't "stick." You can check the boxes, hit "OK" but when you reopen the hard-drive box, the boxes are unchecked. Probably a registry tweak is in order? |
