I need to buy a new laptop. My old Toshiba has just about had it. I would love to have an Alienware Area51 but simply can't afford the $3000.00 price tag on it.

In your opinion, what is the best bang for the buck in the $1000.00 range? It must have Vista Home P at minimum, Ultimate preferred, 2gb of mem, a respectably fast processor, around 200gb of disk and NICE screen.

I know this is opening a can of worms but I curious to see the responses.

Steve

Good place to go to and read about experiences others have had with laptops and Vista:

They have forums for each of the major brands, as well as Vista in general.
