After I have deleted an email in windows mail, automatically the next
email will be opened. How can I change it so I will automatically return
to the inbox?

Don't delete it from its opened window.
Close the window, then delete it from the message list.
You may also want to disable the preview pane:
View, Layout, uncheck "Show preview pane".
