| | | | I have a dell M1330 laptop with Vista home premium installed. I had not used
it for some time and switched it on and downloaded a number of MS updates.
Since then the laptop does not shut down it just remains on the "Windows is
shutting down" screen. Has anyone had this problem following recent MS
updates and any ideas for putting it right?
Thanks,
Alan

Since you are quite sure that the issue arose after installing updates,
uninstall the updates. Then install only one at a time and test after each
installation to find the culprit. Don't install drivers from Windows
Update.
After you've determined which update caused the problem, you can research it
by posting to the Windows Update newsgroup and/or looking for similar
issues and fixes by using Google Groups Advanced Search and constraining
your search to the Windows Update newsgroup.
