I recently got a new laptop with Vista Business 32bit edition, and I'm still
trying to configure the network settings by adding a second static IP
address, so that it can see with the other pc's in the network.

The network infrastructure is set up as the following: there is a DSL router
in bridge mode, so all pc's connected to the network have a direct connection
to the internet, and get their ip address from the ISP's DHCP server. Also
the other pc's (with XP and linux) have a secondary IP address set up e.g.
192.168.1.10 so they can access a NAS also hooked up to the network, but not
connected to the internet.

It was quite easy to configure XP based on this article
http://www.petri.co.il/configure_tcp_ip_to_use_dhcp_and_a_static_ip_addr...
but the registrty key in Vista are somewhat different, and it doesn't seem
to work.
Do you have any suggestion to how to add a secondary static ip addrss to
Vista?

Hi
In the Control Pane; Network and Sharing Center, click on the view status
that is right to the connection line.
In the Widows that open click on properties. The rest is like Windows XP.

Hi
Sorry I clicked Send by a mistake before correcting the spelling.
It should be.
In the Control Panel/ Network and Sharing Center, click on the view status
that is right to the Connection line.
In the Window that opens click on Properties.
The rest is like Windows XP.

Thanks, but this I got so far already.
Maybe my question was not clear enough: I want to configure the network
settings so that Vista is using a static IP address - for the local network,
and is simultaneously using a DHCP obtained IP address - to connect to the
network. Any suggestions how it can be set up?
Cheers

The link that you entered
http://www.petri.co.il/configure_tcp_ip_to_use_dhcp_and_a_static_ip_addr...
can not be opened. Please send link to rgeter@rochester.rr.com. I am
looking to add ip sharing to my laptop so that I can use it with my video
phone.
