I'm running Vista Ultimate x64 and I'm running a file server using
Windows Server 2003, both computers are hooked up through standard Cat5
through a D-Link DI-524.
Whenever I pull files from the server machine to the vista machine it
will transfer the files at a normal speed. Whenever I try to send files
from the Vista machine to the server machine the transfer speed is
ungodly slow. It took 7 minutes to transfer a 19mb file from Vista to
Server, but to pull the same file back from the server took 25 seconds.
Another related issue is that when I am sending files to the server
machine from my vista machine, the vista machine becomes quite slow,
sometimes taking 45-60 seconds to open any type of simple application
(i.e. Firefox). As soon as the transfer is over the Vista machine
behaves like normal.
I recently installed Vista Ultimate x64 replacing WinXP Pro SP3 x86 and
I never had any of the issues I am currently experiencing.
System specs for both machines are: *Vista Ultimate x64 SP1* EVGA 680i Motherboard
C2D E6600
2GB Patriot DDR2
Geforce 7900GS
2x74gb WD Raptor in RAID-0
500gb Seagate Drive
Sound Blaster X-fi ExtremeMusic
*Server 2003 Enterprise Edition SP2* FIC VG33 845GE Motherboard
Pentium 4 2.6
1GB Kingston DDR
Integrated Intel Graphics
WD 80GB
Realtek HD Intergrated Audio

I figured out what the issue was ... FirstPacket under the nVidia
Control Panel was enabled. As soon as I disabled that feature
everything works perfectly!
Just in case anyone is wondering this is driver version 9.64
64bit directly from nVidia's site.
