Lets see now. I went thru this when XP came out what 6 years ago or more. And I am having one piece hardware that will not function with Vista though I can do without it. In your case like in mine with having an HP all in one, my scanner would not work with XP. Solution, none till HP comes out a driver for Vista. Though I will look for your machine on a driver site I use and see if there is something for it. This seems to be a often problem with all in ones. Though most of the machine works something doesn't and you can't use it until updated OS drivers arrive for it. Least thats been what I have seen. If I find anything I will let you know but, I would not count on it. It took several months before HP updated my all in one so I could use all of it again.

Ok,
if you have not looked at the www.hp.com web site under drivers than perhaps this is what you require. HP Full Feature Software and Drivers

03-2007080.001.237.000-163.07M

Sorry about the formatting here but, I just did a copy paste. This appears to be the only drivers set for your printer available at the moment for Vista anyways, and I did not see what it covers as to whether or not the scanner will work under Vista. Do note that you can either download this somewhat bulky driver at 163 meg's plus or you can order a disk with the stuff on it you need. As it might take a while to download this puppy. There are some driver sites that you can pay a one time fee to, that are actually quite helpful for finding drivers you need when it comes to upgrading your OS. I use a site called driversHQ.com I believe (though I am not endorsing anything here) but the one time fee of $25.00 is not bad if you need drivers and they seem to usually have what I need anyway. And like I said it is a one time fee only so use it whenever, and you do not have to pay again. So that helps.

Thank you lorenkjr.  I downloaded the driver.... and got some instructions after installing it to scan with pain which works... so i dont know if its because of the new driver or if i could have done it with what ever vista had becase i had not tried it with paint..

Anyways bottom line .. i dont need a new scanner which is great!

Thnaks

My pleasure as I have been down this road before.  And most always the only part of the al in one that never works is the scanner.  So glad yours is working.  If you buy anything new device wise make sure it says Vista on it, cause not everything will work.  Cameras are another goody that is hard to find Vista drivers for.  But, I know one thing for sure I do not ever want to go back to XP, as Vista has too many nice things about it to give up on it.
